Finally spring arrives this week. I just love the birds chirping, the smell of the warming sun and the flowers blooming. I think I will spend the rest of the day outside enjoying mother nature.

Northeast Weather

STORM WATCH: (March 26th - 28th, 2014)

While the calendar may denote the start of the Spring season, Winter is not finished with the region just yet. Early next week, an unusually cold arctic air mass will be moving into the region, bringing with it; the potential for a significant snowstorm. Current international computer model guidance suggests an increasing potential for an intense area of low pressure developing and moving up the eastern seaboard around the Tuesday-Wednesday timeframe. Models such as the CMC allow the trough axis to have a negative tilt, bringing the storm up the coast, and delivering heavy snows up the I-95 corridor. In contrast, models such as the GFS and ECMWF have a more neutral-tilt look to the incoming trough; consequently steering the system too far offshore to deliver any significant impacts to our region. At this time, both solutions are feasible, as it is still too far out to narrow these details down. Given the past nature of such arctic air masses, I will say that areas from North Carolina through Maine need to keep a close eye on this system as it poses a significant threat next Tuesday into Wednesday. Stay tuned for the latest as I will have much more information available over the coming days!

All it takes is for someone to pull their cover then we can have one last storm. I took one for the team last year it is someone else's turn this year. Do we have any volunteers?

I told a few people that Pattie and I were going up to the boat. They thought they were going for a boat ride but we handed them a brush when they arrived!

Seriously though I could never have gotten all that work done in one day by myself. Had some really good friends bust their butts and all Ihave to done is buff magic the hull today.

It's going long cold day that's a big boat! I only did some inside work yesterday touching up my radar arch it was comfortable under the cover. Today I'm not sure I will get anything done as much as I want to go sand the bottom I hate the cold.

Next week I will have to get busy! Or I need to find some good friends like Rommer did:)

I second the motion. Can't imagine myself on the river when it's this cold and there are one foot thick ice floes out there. Hitting one could wreck your day. Fishing will have to wait.

I highly suggest you do. You will look awfully funny waxing your boat in feetie pajamas. I'm going to stay home and throw logs on the fire and fill my snow blower with gas.

Hull is done, buff magic followed by rejex. Fenders and lines are deployed, signed the launch orders and waiting for snow.

I'm beting they won't get me in this week which is fine with me.

Whenever we rushed to get in on April 15th or earlier the weather was always crappy and windy and not worth it.

For many years we were doing the first week in May launch.

We would be on land and watch the early launchers get rocked and rolled on the docks at SPBM.

This year looks like a first week in May year to me.

That would have been me you were watching get rocked around. I don't think I have ever been in later then April 1st. I can remember driving up the Palisades in a major snow storm to go out on D-Dock to clean the snow off my boat. It was easy since I always wintered inside. Not sure that will be a possibility moving forward but if it is, I will be all over it.
